Where did the idea originate?
I received through the counsel of the Lord the vision for WINGS in the following manner:
In 2007 I was studying the scripture in preparation for a teaching on prayer that I had been asked to give.
I offer an explanation with the roots found in Psalm 33:11.
“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.”
These words fairly jumped off the page at me.
THE plans of HIS heart to ALL generations!?
Hope sprung within me.
Our Lord does not change! His counsel to each generation is precise, dynamic in scope, empowering in breaking down strongholds and is the most effective and positive force in the world to change lives!
God does reveal the plans of His heart to those that desire to know and love Him more intimately. Intercessory prayer brings us ever close and closer to the very heart of God!
We do not have to “wonder and ponder” about “what is His will for me or for my children”?
As we learn to pray scripture (God’s heart and mind revealed to us) we are repeating back to Him His will for us and our families!
Moms can pray with total confidence that He hears and will answer the scripture based, personalized prayers!
The Spirit then took me to Joshua 22:26-28. (Hint: I do not spend a lot of time in Joshua, it was God.) He arrested my spirit and focused my wandering mind on these verses.
“That is why we said, ‘let us get ready and build an altar – but not for burnt offerings or sacrifices.’ On the contrary, it is to be a witness between us and you and the generations that follow, that we will worship the Lord with our burnt offerings, sacrifices and fellowship offerings. Then in the future your descendants will not be able to say to ours, ‘You have no share in the Lord.’ If they say this to us, or to our descendants, we will answer; ‘Look at the replica of the Lord’s altar, which our fathers and mothers built, not for burnt offerings and sacrifices, but as a witness between us and you.”
The Spirit then almost instantaneously gave me the format for the WINGS prayer fellowship. I grabbed a pencil and quickly wrote the format down as He seemed to be dictating it to me!
The focus and vision of WINGS is simple; Spirit led, powerful and empowering specific, scripture based intercessory prayer for our families’ spiritual and physical needs. We “build an altar” for remembrance in the home or church small group setting by creating a visual circle of Moms gathered in faith, lighting candles at our stations of prayer, uniting in our hearts and “sacrificing” our time.
This higher calling of God is felt and known and revealed to us as we gather and unite and obey as His church with no boundaries.
It is a sacred gift we give to each other. The altar of prayer – created by Moms for His glory and according to the counsel of His heart!
His plans for our children far exceed our hopes and dreams. We can trust in His heart for this next generation of saints! Let’s begin!
